New to Pennsylvania investing

Good morning!

This is my first post on the forums. Ten years ago I joined the navy and unknowingly house-hacked my first property in Norfolk, VA and then panicked and sold when my job took me to San Diego six months later (broke even but waited until 2015 to buy a home out here with my wife).

I've recently transitioned out of the Navy, read Rich Dad and other like books, as well as consumed the BP podcast.  We're now looking to buy a rental property in the area I grew up (Erie / Meadville PA).  I am going to remain remote for the time being but will rely on my sister in Edinboro to be the "boots on the ground".

I'm primarily interested in buy and hold of multifamily units but am open to opportunities. I've set a goal to make my first investment purchase in 2017.

I would like to connect with local investors, lenders and real estate professionals in the area in order to get up to speed on the area.

Hey Corey, Welcome to BiggerPockets. I've been around the Erie area for a while and went to Edinboro for my undergrad. I will comment to watch out for two reasons: 1: School district problems 2: GE appears to be moving on (on the plus side, you have a 1 million square foot Lord Corporation facility on upper Peach St.) Other than that, I think there are some golden nuggets to be found.
