Hi everyone, My real name is Patrick Lang, I have lived all over the Chicago suburbs, and I am excited to join the BP community. I hope a 5am introduction won't get lost! How Bigger Pockets found me: Bigger Pockets was suggested to me by my cousin's wife who is a delightful Real estate agent on the north side of Chicago. Some tidbits about me: I am... - a recent University of Alabama grad as of May 2017 (Roll Tide!) - currently on podcast episode 34, but the question about what to do as a 23 year old recent college grad from the fire round on episode 26 with Chris Clothier practically spoke to me - studying for my Illinois broker's license and hoping to have that next month - holding zero real estate experience besides some administrative/marketing assistance I performed in the tiny college market of Tuscaloosa, AL during my last year at UA; and - working hourly, living with family, and building my credit to eventually take the leap of faith into a real estate career. My goals: - get licensed/educated - network - pay my dues to the real estate gods by finding an agent or investor to work for in the afternoons and on the weekends - sell real estate and flip commissions into passive $ - retire at 50 with bigger pockets, a beach parcel, and a good book A few topics I am interested in learning about: - macro analysis of local markets - how to add value to the acquisition and selling phases of various real estate investing niches - how to win with the purchase -estimating rehab costs - screening tenants and managing managers Favorite (audio)books: - Meditations, by Marcus Aurelius Narrated by Duncan Steen - The Old Man and the Sea, by Ernest Hemingway Narrated by Donald Sutherland - Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, by Douglas Adams I am posting this right before work so I might not respond until 11 or 3
