Newbie from Baltimore, MD
Hey BP!
I am so excited to get started in REI and CANNOT wait to see what BP has to offer. I already listened in to a webinar last night that @Brandon Turner gave on "How to Evaluate and Offer on Rental Properties" and it was great! Kids screaming in the background and all, but I was glued to the computer and taking notes!
My name is Ryan Dougherty and my wife, who is equally excited about this next step, is Stephanie Dougherty. Her and I were both born and raised in Maryland, her in La Plata (that is Southern MD, some of the best MD crab cakes out there, for those who don't know!), and I in the Parkville/Towson area just north of Baltimore City. She just that small town girl and me the city boy!
I am 31 and she is 32, and we met while both attending Towson University in Baltimore.
We have been married for almost six years now, and we have two beautiful children. Our son Kieran who will be 3 in October, and our daughter Posie who will be 1 in December.
We are both ALL-IN on REI because we realize this is our path to financial freedom. I work for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company and have been there for over 9 years. Stephanie was an Elementary School teacher until the summer of 2016, when she entered the real estate world as an agent full time.
It has taken us way too long to get to this point, but we are ready to work hard, learn as much as possible, and find every way we can to be successful with REI.
Our goals are simple - through building a portfolio of passive income producing real estate investments, we would like to achieve financial freedom.
While financial freedom means different things to everyone, our financial freedom entails early retirement, traveling, and the biggest and most important piece is our ability to attend and enjoy our children each and every day of their lives. We want the ability to get out of the ever so popular term "rat race".
It is our goal to make REI our full time business!!
Right now we are just starting out, so we believe Buy and Hold is our best place to start. Want to build up the positive cash flow, continue to learn and network, and then build from there.
Please reach out, as any and all advice or guidance would be truly appreciated!
Thanks BP and let's get started!

Welcome to BP as well, Baltimore is cheaper than surrounding areas, there are many well kept neighborhoods hidden in the not nice ones because Baltimore housing changes quickly, block by block. If you know it you will make money.
Also companies are investing in Baltimore and renovating neighborhoods quickly such as Remington, if you can catch one like that then you will make a good profit.
