New Member from Houston TX - any local networking?

Hey Folks,

I'm a new member from Houston TX.  I've been eyeing real estate, stocks, and general ways of generating extra income beyond the day job.  I'm ready to begin real estate investing.

I'm in no rush to buy a house or jump into any deals but I'd rather find out what kind of network Houston has to offer.  I'm interested in learning and gaining as much information as I can before diving in.  I'm definitely new to biggerpockets and I've never even owned a house before.

Any other Houston folks out there!  Any conferences or events for real estate people happening?
