Transient investor looking to get back into the game

As a long-time intermittent lurker and part-time real estate investor, I thought it was finally time to come out of hiding and reengage my focus toward building our real estate portfolio. So hello everyone, here's our story... My wife and I are currently military nurse anesthetists living in Hawaii. Prior to moving out here, we lived in San Antonio during our training. We bought three SFHs in San Antonio during school after we realized that we needed an escape plan from the rat race. When we moved to Kailua, we bought another SFH which we live in but plan on adding an accessory dwelling unit on the same property. Although we have a few rental properties, we're hoping to learn how to find better opportunities, (maybe) break into new markets, and continue to develop our strategy for managing newly acquired properties from a distance (our current job makes it hard to stay in one place for more than a few years). Eventually, our goal is to use the passive income generated from multiple rental properties to fund our somewhat-early retirement.
