New from Lexington, KY and time for a career change

Hi there,

My name is Terry Miller but I go by my middle name, Chris. I'm 44 years old and have spent my entire adult life in construction and/or engineering. I'm recently divorced and have decided now is the time for me to do something that I might actually enjoy. I kind of just fell into the construction / engineering world in 1994 and have had a good career thus far but have never enjoyed it. I'm hoping to make a successful transition into the world of real estate.

I'm looking for advice on how to successfully get rolling in real estate. This is a brand new world for me so other than some internet research, indicating that I need some classroom time prior to sitting for an exam, I don't know much. I would love love to hear recommendations on the process. Which school?, After the exam, what's next?, Are there agencies that will pay for your classes?, etc, etc.

Hopefully a discussion can get rolling here and I can get off to a good start. Thanks in advance.
