Hello All,

My name is Vanessa and i'm looking to get into Real Estate investment. I live in the Orlando, Florida market. I want to take a moment and plunge myself on here and say Hello and start getting out of my comfort zone. I'm currently in the Computer Networking field and looking to start investing in my future.

I want to take a moment and kick myself. When i was 18-19 years old I worked at an appraisers office. There I met an appraiser and we started dating. He was an entrepreneur, Realtor and investor. He slowly started taking me to his rental properties, paid to get my appraiser's license and eventually we partnered up to buy houses using my very beautiful credit and his cash. I say i want to kick myself because I never showed interest in real estate at the time. I would go with him to properties but never paid attention. I would buy houses with him but never looked at the deals or tried to understand how he was doing it. He was mentoring me and I never knew or cared. Now 10 years later I look back and see the immense value I had FOR FREE (forced upon me) and I threw it away.

Now 10 years later, I'm ready to get back out there. Last week I came across this site and I'm reading the articles, joined my local REI group and going to free seminars.

I'm interested in the rehabbing properties, not yet ready for rental properties (too much risk for me right now) and curious how to get started!

I do have one question, that same boyfriend that got me into purchasing properties also introduced me to my first short sale and eventually bankruptcy. I've been working on my credit and now have a 690-715 credit score and 3 years to go before my bankruptcy comes off my record. Has anyone been able to get into real estate investment with not so great credit? Or with the dings I have on mines? I would appreciate any insight!

Thank you and I'm excited to join this new community.
