New REI hopeful from Texas

Hey there, my name is Grayson. I've lived in Austin, Dallas, and currently attend school in Abilene, Texas and I'm set to graduate in May of 2018 with a dual B.B.A. in marketing and management information systems.

I am about to start my senior year and have been reading books such as Rich Dad Poor Dad, and The Richest Man In Babylon. These books have inspired my future habits with money already and I can't wait to get started. I'm extremely interested in Real Estate, although I don't have enough money to afford a down payment, so for now I've been practicing good habits by saving 10% of every paycheck and investing in stocks through the Robin Hood App (super cool!), also even if I had the money, I am not well versed enough in alternative financing options to jump into the game yet. I'm interested in starting my first real estate investment in Abilene, TX, according to what I know the prices are really low but rent is high with 3 colleges and a hospital near the area I'm familiar with.

I do have a local mentor but we have not had our first meeting yet, we are scheduled to have coffee when school starts back up. He has owned over 40+ rental properties in the area.

I'm on Bigger Pockets to seek advice, and learn from others who have been in the game for a while and have experienced all the things I will run into. I'm excited to learn and can't wait to start investing.

Can't wait to meet you guys!
