Hey everyone! My names Mason and 25 from the Los Angeles and Orange County, CA area. I am very new to real estate although my interest in it has been present for a while. I have been discouraged by other real estate agents from entering the field due to high student loan payments (Bachelors in Psychology) but that is why I have not quit my "day job." I am currently taking the CA real estate license classes through a local college, but the more I read, the more I am realizing I may not necessarily need the salesmen license if I only want to invest. Right now, I have no real experience in the field, only learning what I can on here and on Reddit, plus the class. My goals are to eventually own 1-4 unit rentals, focusing on holding the properties for an extended amount of time. At the present, managing something like mid sized or larger apartments and complexes seems a bit daunting, but maybe as time goes I will reconsider. Unfortunately right now, the largest barrier for me is knowledge and some form of capital. My day job as a security office hardly pays my student loans, car payment, and gas. I'm not exactly buying a property while only having a couple hundred bucks left over each month if I'm lucky! But hopefully soon that will change!
