Registered Nurse to Real Estate Investor
Hello!
I am a new Bigger Pockets member from California and very excited about adventuring into real estate investing. My previous job was a Registered Nurse but after losing my 21-year old daughter to a senseless act of gun violence on August 3, 2015, I could no longer handle the mental and emotional demands of nursing. I took all necessary courses to get my real estate license while I was in nursing school years ago and decided to take my state exam in March of this year when I knew in my heart nursing wasn't going to work for me any longer...I PASSED on the first try! I am now a licensed real estate agent and determined to become an investor. I MUST achieve financial freedom to spend as much quality time with my only remaining child (15 yr old son) and travel as often as possible to aide in my healing process.
I come with a team which consists of myself and my two sisters, Regina and Tiffany. Tiffany is also a real estate agent and has been in the field for 14 years. Regina AKA "FilmGurl" is a videographer/editor and does all of our marketing. We call ourselves #SellingSistahs! We are Bay Area natives and work there but also working to expand our network in Los Angeles.
We're looking to do our first flip or wholesale deal. If you have any good deals, helpful advice, want to network or would like to mentor three excited, motivated "SellingSistahs," we'd LOVE to hear from you! We are in the process of confirming a date for a meet-up in Beverly Hills in the first or second week of August. Please email us your info for location & time and let's NETWORK!

Hi Senika,
I'm an ED nurse in the Bay Area and just wanted to tell you how very sorry I am to here about your daughter. Yet, I also wanted to tell you, even though I don't know you at all, how proud I am of you for picking yourself up and knowing what you needed to do in order to make yourself happy. I love what I do, but I can empathize with you about the stresses and demands that are put on nurses. I've been doing it for about 3 years now and already know that I don't think my mental capacity can handle the job for another 35 years! I just want you to know that your in my thoughts and I'll be pulling for you. I just got my first place under contract in the central valley where I grew up, and I'm using the income from my nursing gig as a means to and end. It's just a thought but the reality is we do pretty well as nurses up in the bay area and have flexibility of working 3, 12 hour shifts a week, which leaves us with a lot of room to work on our side hustle.
The great part is, if you ever run into a situation were you need a little extra cash, you can always pick up a per diem gig and make a little extra on the side to supplement your RE journey. I think the future is bright for you and your sisters, so go rock it!
