Hello,

I've lived in Wyoming most of my life, and am starting to build a team and jump into the RE game here.  Primarily interested in 2-4 family properties that need a little work, but nothing drastic.  I have some time, some rudimentary skills, and a bit of capital to invest.

I made an offer on a foreclosed pseudo-duplex but backed out when inspections found some serious foundation problems.

Currently I'm doing inspections on another duplex type property and if they come out ok, I might just close on my first investment property next week!

I have 20 years with my current employer, which is in the oilfield.  My goal is to replace the W2 income with by and hold properties.

I will eventually look for properties in different areas, but for now, I'll be sticking to my own back yard.

Thanks to all who've posted on this site, its an incredible resource!

@William C., welcome to Bigger Pockets.  I think Casper is a great place to jump into real estate right now.  Two years ago if you bought in Casper you would be very sorry about now, but things have definitely changed.  I am sure you have seen the extreme cycles your area has, and timing can be pretty important.  I have looked at Casper for investing, but for now there is simply not enough time.  I don't know the market well enough to be of much help, but can probably give some advice on the basics or the laws.  I currently have a couple dozen rentals in Thermopolis, a few in neighboring towns and a few JVs in a few other states.  Be sure to read through the education section above also.  It is packed with tons of great info.  It took me months to get through it, but the information was getting a bachelors degree in investing.  Best of luck.
