NE KS realtor/contractor husband and wife team

Hello Bigger Pockets! I am a new realtor in Lawrence KS. My husband and I just closed on our first flip house today! Here's a little information about us. I grew up in a real estate family, 3rd generation here. Up until last May I was an elementary school ESL teacher. Discouraged by the politics of teaching, I decided to stay home with the kids. This spring I went ahead and got my RE license in order for us to start flipping houses. My husband worked in construction and was a contractor until 2007. Our daughter was dx with leukemia and at the same time he was having trouble collecting money upon the completion of jobs. People had him doing work and then disappear. It was too much while taking care of a sick child, so he went out of business and went to nursing school. He never really stopped construction totally though because we have bought, renovated & lived in, 3 houses since then (yes, renovated and lived in happened simultaneously unfortunately). Each time we move we don't sell, we just rent out the house. We have built up plenty of equity in our houses to buy this 4th house as a "cash" deal. We're starting small, and all of the numbers look good. It will be a lot of work and my husband is going to do it all on his own. (While keeping his job as a nurse.) If this works out well we hope to continue flipping houses so he only has to work as a nurse PT or PRN. Eventually we'd like to sub out some of the work, but not on this one. Im looking forward to learning from you all on this site. I've been listening to the podcasts constantly since discovering them last week! Lots of great content!
