First BP Post, Introducing Ourselves and Looking to Chat!

Hey Guys,

My name is Mitchell. My brother (@Andrews24) and I have been extremely passive members on BP for about a year now. We’ve observed the forums here and there and listened to a podcast or two. My brother has passively invested for years and did one small 2 year rent-and-flip deal that was just sold this month. In short, our “hands-on” RE experience is limited. For the last month, we’ve started to take our research more seriously and thought we would introduce ourselves in the forums as we’re looking for like-minded individuals to learn and work with. I’ll start with a little bit about my background.

I have been an entrepreneur from day one and love building businesses. I have a BA in Urban Planning, but spent the majority of my time at school buying and reselling products online and working tirelessly on two failed software startups. In my last year of University, my best friend, my brother and I started an eCommerce store for a branded inflatable camping couch. We did over $100K in revenue over 5 months and learned a ton about digital marketing and distribution. Last October, we leveraged our profits and experience into a similar project for a small branded toy. In our first 7 months of operation, we’ve done just shy of $750K in revenue and have acquired connections we couldn’t be more grateful for. I now reside in LA and am actively reading, researching and taking in all things real estate while continuing to run my businesses. Now, on to my brother.

Andrew is an extremely high IQ individual. I would say he’s brilliant, but he’s my brother and you probably wouldn’t believe me. Andrew has a math, stats and economics background. He finished his BA in Econ at McGill, did his MS in statistics at URI, and completed half of a BioStatistics PhD from Brown U. He left tired of academia and got a job as a data science professional in the insurance industry. In addition to his success in his academic and 9-5 career, Andrew has also been the CFO for all of the ventures we’ve run together. His financial savvy and understanding of market dynamics has allowed us to survive in times of need, and thrive in times of growth. Andrew currently resides in Washington DC.

We are now at a point where the meat of our business is in need of some diversification and REI seems to be calling our name. We are looking for anyone and everyone to talk business with, while learning as much as we can. Hopefully I hit the key points on our background/skill set and our background stories weren't too long or short for anyone. Feel free to ask any questions and we look forward to chatting with all of you!

Cheers,

Mitchell
