Hello BP! My name is John Kirksey. I am a native of Richmond, VA. and live here with my wife and two daughters. We are excited to be a part of the the BP community and eager to finally get started in real estate investing, which is something we have talked about for a number of years but have never taken any action beyond the talking stage.

Now, thanks to what I have learned here at BP via the forums, books, and the excellent podcast, we have a plan on paper and a set of criteria and are committed to moving "past" talk into "action".

I work full time as a pilot for a local company. I love my day job and have every intention of continuing in that job until the FAA pries my medical out of my cold dead fingers, but thanks to my career field I have an incredible amount of schedule flexibility. Our short term goal is to find either a fix and flip or a buy and hold within the next 60 days, depending on what we find that fits our criteria for each. Preferably we will start with the fix and flip as the summer is slow for me and would give me a lot of time to work on a rehab, and then start the process over again.

We have gutted and rehabbed two houses that we have lived in - one while we lived in it (never again) and one before we moved in. I am quite comfortable doing just about everything in a rehab, although I know what my limitations are and will sub out the work that I'm just not good at or that takes me too long, or that I really have no business doing (i.e. electrical!).

I'm looking forward to learning as much as I can from the community on this journey, and sharing it along the way. I'm always looking to make connections in the area and would love to get plugged into a real estate group, if there is one. Thanks for listening!

John Kirksey
