Aspiring investor in Erie, PA

Hi BP nation!

My name is Chris Wakley, I have very recently entered the real estate investing world. Last Aug, I purchased my first property: a duplex in downtown Erie and currently live in the one apartment and rent out the second one for $650. Getting that check every month is addicting! I'm not cash flowing or living quite for free but the extra financial help has been great.

I work in North East (a small town 20 min east of Erie) for an RV Dealership that my parents built from the ground up. I am in the sales dept (anyone need an RV? lol) and also maintain our website & SEO. (wakleyrv.com)

I came across BP pretty much just after Googling same basic RE questions. Once I discovered the podcasts, I have been listening non-stop. I started with Episode 1 and just recently finished the one with Paula Pant (ep 35 I think), and it was one of my favorites. I also really enjoyed the one with Ben Leybovich.  Brandon and Josh make listening a pleasure and also are pretty great interviewers.

Anyways, my main goal, like most people I'm sure, is to be able to make enough "passive" income to live comfortably and not have to have a 9-5. Even though I would eventually have the keys to the operation at the dealership. While the business is very successful and respected, I've seen the stress and headaches that my parents have dealt with for years.

Another reason I am very passionate about getting going in RE, is that I deal with some very life altering (but not life threatening) health problems and I really want to be able to focus on getting better. By the time I get out of work I am EXHAUSTED and have no energy to pursue these other dreams. But that's a whole other story.

Anyways, hope I didn't bore anyone to death but I just wanted to introduce myself to the community and say I really am amazed at the people on here and the incredible wealth of free information on this site. If you happen to be around the area I would love to meet up and talk or see what I can learn!

Thank you BP!

Chris W.
