Hello everyone. My name is Chris Kohlmeir. I finished active duty service with the Marine Corps at the end of last year. I took a job with Nike as an Inventory Control Manager and now I live in Memphis, TN.   I have been interested in the idea of real estate for the past few years, but have only recently made a personal commitment to go after it. I am in the education/discovery phase of real estate investing and am interested in starting out with a du/triplex purchase for the purpose of living rent free (and rental income!). I would like to start with something I can do on the side since I work fulltime and eventually build up to having a few rental properties as well as engaging in the occasional flip. I don't know what I don't know, and I assume as I make forward leaning steps I will learn and pick things up. I look forward to learning and sharing with everyone.

@Chris Kohlmeir I got my start going to the MIG meetings, which I believe are the 2nd Thursday of each month at the Embassy. That is where I met mentors, lenders, attorney's, etc.  It is a good group for people just getting started. You would be surprised how many people will want to help you. I go to 3 or 4 a year.  Probably will go July, but will be gone June. Come find me if you come.
