New here from Salt Lake valley

Hi guys! I'm new, don't know what I'm doing but I'm here! I currently work from home for a personal injury law firm, I've been with the firm for about 10 years (with a few breaks to have my 2 children). I have thought about real estate investing for years but was finally encouraged by a friend yesterday to get serious. Don't know where to start, but I think I'm interested in buy and hold rentals. I could handle a few touch-ups and repairs but don't really want to get into fixer uppers quite yet. I'm also interested in apartment complexes possibly, or duplexes/townhomes maybe further down the road. I don't know if the Salt Lake valley is my best bet for getting started with rentals, house prices are quite high here (about $165/sq ft). Anyways, I'll be browsing the forum, hopefully I can find some good info!
