Home Buying Newbie In Phoenix, AZ

Hey Everyone!  I am new to this site (I signed up a while ago but have just started researching and exploring) and wanted to introduce myself and give a little background.  I a 32YO college graduate who has never owned a home.  I travel a lot for work and have never really had a need for a house before but I don't want to travel forever and be tied to my work so I am looking to buy a house and start working towards a portfolio of rental properties where I plan to settle in Phoenix, AZ.  From what I have read it seems like buying to occupy and buying to rent are a bit different and I think I am in somewhat of a unique position because I am buying a home that will be occupied by my girlfriend, our two furry children, and I for 3-5 years unitl she graduates and then we will be upsizing and renting this property out.  For that reason I am looking to find a "deal" and not pay full retail price, but at the same time I don't have al ot of time for major repairs since I am out of town a good bit.  Anyhow I am excited to have discovered this resource and look forward to learning and receiving any advice from you all.  Anyhow, thanks ahead of time for the education!

Great resource list above.. I would look into house hacking as one of the primary ways to build wealth and live free in the meantime! @Scott Trench most recent podcast and new book written gets into a lot of details on this.

Happy Investing!
