What's up everyone!
I've been reading the BiggerPockets newsletter and forums for a few months, and currently on a mission to listen through the amazing podcast episodes. Thought it's time to introduce myself and be active in these forums. Getting educated fast thanks to this community!
I'm a talent manager based in Los Angeles. I'm looking to do my first real estate deal. Today I listened to Scott Trench's interview to promote his Set For Life book on the podcast today, and the example that he picked exactly fit my scenario; I have enough to borrow for a $400k loan with 20% deposit down. I have a young family so I'm eager to buy small 2 bed home as a starter. As most of you know $400k doesn't get you far in Los Angeles!
However I am also open to continue renting and invest in a cash flow positive property to start my REI portfolio. My medium term goal is to achieve supplemental passive income. Talent management is commission based work and I am determined to find a baseline side income to help smooth the up and down nature of my work.
There's so much to learn so it'll probably take me a while to go through the sheer amount of knowledge in BiggerPockets. I'm keen to hear from people who are in or have gone through similar situations and what their thought processes are. Any advice is appreciated!
thanks
Jerry
