new and getting started

hey guys,
im pretty new to the real estate investment scene, but i am very ineterested. Im in the military and i would like to know how to start out, i.e. land, or housing, how much recommended to spend. i have steady income, so im not worried about dropping alot right now, as long of course that i get it in return later, anything would be good i guess is what im trying to say haha, thanks for anything!
