Just the beginning

I have been looking for a hobby, and a way to make some money to improve my life for myself and my family after I got injured in the war in Iraq in 2006. I live in Illinois, and I have been interested in real estate for a few years. Problem is, I don't even know where to begin! Money is very tight right now... I am medically retired, and sometimes I feel as though I'm not doing enough for my family. What better line of work to ease into then something I can learn as I go, and I don't have to DIRECTLY work with a mass of people! Any and all help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Take me under your wing if you will. I think you will see that I can be a decent pupil. I'm not blowing any smoke, by saying I'm a newbie. I have been reading other posts and scanning the forums, and I find it all strangely interesting. I'm a trailblazer, and with the proper tools I think I could fit right into this!
Thanks for ANY and ALL help.
