New to BP and REI - Living in Houston Metropolitan area

I am new to BP and REI. I have a full time job and live in Katy, TX which is within the Houston metropolitan area. I just started reading about REI and listening to BP podcasts. I am thinking about taking the courses to get my real estate agents license, not sure how much it will help. I will be attending the Houston REIA meeting this week to get connected with people and understand the Houston market. I would appreciate any guidance and pointer for a newbie.

Thanks
