Hello everyone my name is Pablo Ottenwalder. At 17 i lived in Boston Massachusetts. While I was there I made all the wrong decisions I ended up homeless and sleeping in my car. My girlfriend at the time was pregnant I knew I had to change my life. I got a job at a supermarket and out worked everyone for the next 5 years. I got into management made about 65k a year and married my girlfriend, I finally had my life together. I received another promotion and was going to be making 80k a year with overtime but I hated my job and the cold weather. I starting reading a lot of books like rich dad poor dad, richest Man in Babylon and Millionaire next door then books on real estate I was hooked. I decided to quit my job and relocate my family to Miami Florida without a job waiting for me I did it with just the money I saved up. I've bin here for about a year now and worked all kinds of odd jobs. It's bin tough providing for my wife and son but we're now finally stable and I want to get into real estate. My wife thinks I'm crazy because I want to quit my job and find something else in real estate. But I truly believe you can accomplish anything you put your mind to I've also bin listening to a lot of motivational speeches as well lol. So I signed up for this forum so I can learn from everyone's experience and eventually become an investor myself. And if you read the entire post thank you

Welcome to BP and also to Miami. I am a newbie myself and am working on my first deal. I have learned quickly that there is a LOT to learn, but all the resources are out there. Bigger pockets is one of the best things i have discovered and learned a tremendous amount from. One thing I learned is figure out which niche of real estate you want to go in. Is it Flipping, buy and hold, wholesale, short sales, commerical etc. Once you find out what is best for you, concentrate and learn as much as you can about it.

I am new to Miami myself and I am learning that the market is very expensive, but there are good opportunities, you just need to keep looking. Make sure that you set a goal and you write down that goal. If your goal is to buy one duplex that  cash flows $300 per month after expenses in the next 12 months; write that down. Learn the steps needed to take to get you to that goal. And persevere, it sounds like you have a lot of initiative.

Best of luck to you. Keep us updated on your success.
