I just joined BP and m diving into the incredible reservoir of info here. My wife and I live in NYC where we own our HUGE 650 sf studio. In 2015 we bought two twin duplexes (let's call it a four-plex) in Newburgh, NY which are earning nicely. We are looking for more multi-family deals in the Hudson Valley.

So far my strategy has been one of "buy and hold" as we both hold down full time jobs in the city. However the more I learn on here, the more I'm tempted to try. Amazing site guys.

Hi Daniel welcome! I'm trying to dip my toes in the vast pool of real estate investment and am considering Newburgh as my first venture. I know there is a revitalization going on but I believe there is also still a lot of crime in the city; do you mind telling me what part of Newburgh you own properties and how the safety is around them? Also, if the properties required renovation how extensive was the reno and were you able to be on-site daily to be sure the work was being done properly as a lot of the multi-families in the area are complete gut jobs? Thank you!
