Hi everyone, I'm new to real estate investing and trying to wrap my head around it all. My wife and I have a couple of teenagers so we are staring down college, and thinking about retirement as we get her parents settled in an assisted living arrangement. When we were buying our house a few years ago I was reading up on real estate and had always wanted to read "Rich Dad, Poor Dad." When I did I had one of those "Wow, I could have had a V8!" moments, realizing we had just committed to a substantial mortgage, I had a demanding job, payments etc... Rat Race! I ended up reading several other books in the Rich Dad, Poor Dad series and started playing Cashflow for Kids with my children so they could break out some day.

Flash forward several years. On one of the tech podcasts I listen to I heard Clayton Morris talking about his strategies and it brought everything back up. I found BiggerPockets and the enormous wealth of information here and had to sign up.

My thinking so far is long term buy and hold, build some income/wealth. Looking for a club in my area - I see there is an event in Princeton next month for the Southern NJ club. I'm looking forward to learning and getting to know you all.

Doug
