Newbie Investor in NJ/Structural Engineer here to bring value

Hello BP!

My name is Mike and I'm a structural engineer who's a newbie investor from NJ. I've been interested in real estate investing for several years, but the BiggerPockets community is what has inspired me to take consistent action towards reaching my goals. Now I'm working on my first multifamily deal. I can't say I'd be doing that right now if it weren't for BP!

As a new investor with little experience, I have learned so much from the BP podcasts, books, and reading through these forums. I've been thinking about how I can give back and add value to this community.

It's no secret that properties with structural and foundation issues are risky and they often leave investors with many unanswered questions. How do you know if the condition actually needs repaired? Your contractor gave you an expensive quote, but how do you know if their repair will actually fix the problem? And is it the most economical solution for the issue at hand? Without an honest assessment of the condition it's difficult for investors to make quick decisions and great investment opportunities can be passed over because of this uncertainty.

As a structural engineer, I can help investors by bringing an unbiased opinion of the structural or foundation issues you're dealing with. If you are looking at a property that has some structural or foundation issues that you're just not sure how to handle, let me know. I'd be happy to give you some recommendations.
