New in Visalia-Porterville region (south Central Valley of CA)
Hello everyone,
I'm Tyler, currently living in Lindsay, CA near the center of the Visalia-Porterville region of California which is in the Central Valley, south of Fresno, north of Bakersfield.
I currently work at a local community bank as a credit analyst. I personally work primarily with C&I loans (commercial non-real estate) but since the credit department of the bank is fairly lean I have some exposure to real estate lending (I frequently see appraisals and commercial real estate credit write ups, etc.)
I'm interested in buying income property to supplement my cash flow and build equity. I like my career but don't want to rely on it as my sole source of income. After working for not quite 2 years I have the cash for a 20% down payment on cheaper income properties in my area. Considering duplexes and lots with 2 homes. SFR's don't seem to cash flow in this area. Still open to other ideas but this is what I'm thinking for right now.
I first was introduced to bigger pockets through the podcast. Looking forward to becoming more involved and meeting people. Please feel free to ask me any questions and I am open to any advice or comments as well.
Thanks,
Tyler

Good for you that you are already scared to be dependent on a employer.
Out of college and working at a good day job I had many memories etched into my mind of grown adults being terminated in 2007 and no backup plan. That period of time accelerated my personal investing and I was able to get out the crowd.
Keep grinding and start investing.
