Multi Family Investor from Montreal

Hi Guys,

I've been lurking for a little while and decided to join and introduce myself as there is definitely a wealth of knowledge here that I can learn from and would also be happy to help others along the way.

I've been a multi family investor over the last few years with 10 units currently owned and another few under management. I've done management for property owners that have 100+ units, personally rented over 100 apartments in the last few years, put together financing for myself as well as others, and had created software to analyse the back end of our local MLS system to find deals based on cap rates, expense ratios, etc.

A little about myself; I'm a finance major with a passion for real estate and tech. I got a broker's license at the age of 18, became licensed and founded brokerages in multiple  other provinces, and lived in a few different countries for brief stints. I'm an alumni from a top tier start up accelerator and I currently take care of new market launches for a tech start up that is also focused on real estate and has raised a considerable amount of money.

My goal is to acquire 100+ units over the next 10 years and my focus as well as area that I am most knowledgeable in is multi family.

Seems like a great community here and looking forward to getting to know many of you.

Cheers,

Hi Frederick,

Welcome to BP.  Seems like you have some great experiences to launch your success in large MF and BP will be helpful to accelerate your growth. Since you've had success in money raising I think personally you could pull that goal in of 100+ units much faster w/OPM since you have some experience and credibility in this area already as a property manager; and perhaps can find some partners to bolster those experiences when you start talking w/investors and lenders.  Leveraging other partners' credibility and deal finding expertise with your capital raising experiences could be a winning combination and accelerate your experience and gain success faster if that is something of interest.  Check out some of the podcast interview links on my BP profile page to give you some ideas on how a capital raise path can be a launching point for large MF investing.  Wish you much success !
