New member from San Diego

Hi, my name is Daniel and I'm a total novice. My wife and I currently rent in San Diego, but my union job has me working in the bay area full time, at wage difference of about 40$ an hour (+30 base, +12 401k per hour).  

We are saving up to buy our first home and hopefully a 2nd place for passive income. Our timeframe for being ready is about middle of 2017 when I return home. I am looking for any networking I can do and any market specific suggestions you may have. I've been listening to the podcast about a month and a half.
