NYC CRE Broker...in the process of becoming a landlord

BP Community,

My day job is a Commercial Real Estate Advisor that specializes in retail leasing for landlord and tenants in the Manhattan market.  This year I also started to do investment sales for mixed-use or multi-family assets and successfully completed my first transaction.  My night job consists of listening to multiple BP podcasts and arming myself with as much education as I can to pursue my first investment property.  Through my career I have been fortunate to meet some of the most successful landlords in one of the most sought after real estate markets in the world, THE BIG APPLE! One of the reoccurring stories I heard was majority of these landlords never set out to be owners and were operators in various  businesses.  They stumbled along real estate to house their business but saw the overwhelming value the property created and pursued acquiring properties full time.  It made me think of the quote by John D. Rockefeller " The major fortunes in America have been made in land".  I love my job as a broker, and continue to do it, but i know to reach my long term goals real estate ownership is absolutely the way to go.  I am here on BP to learn, find deals, and expand my real estate network.
