Looking for a new home
Hello BP members,
My name is Blake McHenry and I am originally from Connecticut. Currently, I am a fishing guide in Alaska and have been working up there for the past 12 years. It has been a wonderful lifestyle for me because I have been able to save money in the working season and then have the freedom to pursue other interests of mine in the offseason (ie, travel, surf, fish, etc.) So through my 20s and early 30s I have been traveling around and really enjoying my life and adventures.
Currently I am looking for my new home/location to begin my real estate career. I currently own one rental property in CT that does quite well, and would like to begin to further my portfolio. I have been talking about getting into real estate for years now and its finally time to pull the trigger! I know that real estate is my future path, and have known for a while, it has just been a condition of the right timing.
Any advice that anyone has about where to begin would be very very much appreciated. Although I own a rental in CT, the market here is not as hot as other places in the country, and I am wondering if I should move to those hotter locations or begin here? I have the flexibility and freedom to move anyplace really. The Portland/Seattle area have been appealing to me, as well as the Southern California area as well. Then again, I guess a good deal is a good deal anywhere in the country.
Anyways, Hello to all the members in BP! This community seems awesome and I look forward to meeting many of you as I begin my real estate career.
Thanks to you all in advance,
Blake McHenry
