Dear BP community, We'll be moving to Alpharetta GA in next couple of months and currently looking for a house in the $500k range as our primary residence. We are currently having that $500k cash in hand but don't want to pay off for the new house since we want to start investing in the rental property. We are thinking of putting 20-30% down payment for the primary house and then using the remaining cash to invest on one or two rental houses after buying the primary one. We are new on the rental property investment so we are not sure if that's a good approach to get started or not. Your thoughts and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. FYI: we will be still working on our current jobs with the annual household income $120k and would like to have enough money to support our two kids when they are in college in next 7-9 years from now. Thanks, Petalpha.
