Hello Bigger Pockets community,

My name is David and I am a 19 year old college student. I have had an entrepreneurial spirit my whole life and when I was 17, I started a business. While owning a business is great, I want to venture into real estate and establish myself further. I have been interested in real estate for a few years now and am having issues with getting started. I want to take advantage of my young age and free time to generate lasting wealth. My biggest obstacle is trying to figure out where to start. My father owns an insurance agency and can help me financially as we are both interested in beginning this journey. My father has told me to look for properties, however I am hesitant because I know I am lacking knowledge. Finding Bigger Pockets on YouTube was certainly great because it is increasing my knowledge in real estate. The other problem is that most properties in my area seem to be expensive compared to properties in other states. I would like to buy my first unit in an area where I can oversee and manage it personally. I want to take my first step without drowning in mistakes. Overall I would like to begin my career with in real estate with baby steps and learn the tricks of the trade!

Hello Julie. Thanks for thanks for the info! I am currently studying business administration as a way to learn more about managing businesses and what not. Construction management seems like a great option as well.
