Hello Everyone, I'm Alex, 26 year old accountant living in Pittsburgh. I've been looking to purchase my first home the last few months and came along Bigger Pockets. I thought to myself, why not buy a property that I can live in and also bring in some additional cash. I thought about having roommates but a property with some additional unit(s) will lead to more income. I would appreciate any tips, suggestions, concerns and comments from anyone who has ventured this path to start out in the real estate business. Looking forward to hearing your responses. Thanks! Alex

Welcome! You're in the right place - there's a lot of information to be had here.

A great way to start out is to buy a duplex or triplex and rent out the units you aren't living in. Just don't let your neighbors know you own the place - you want to position yourself as someone who helps out the owner, not the owner yourself.
