New to Investing

I just want to say hello and state that I am very grateful that a site like this exists. I am looking for additional streams of income and happened to stumble upon a night class that was being offered in my local town. The class was insightful and left me with this thirst to learn more and hopefully get my feet wet. Since Tuesday, 1 of 2 nights that class was offered; next one being the 25th of Oct, I've reached out to close dear friends, to spark this topic and get a feel of their interest. Currently, I am trying to learn as much as I can. I thank you all here before me in advance for insight, direction, and your suggestions.
