New Rental Investor in Wisconsin

Hello, I've been listening to the podcast for awhile now and am getting the cogs going on acquiring my first multi-family four-unit in the Madison area. Definitely more questions to follow. I'll likely be using a VA loan to help with the no/low money down plan to start.

Hi Rocky,

Like yourself, I am looking at investing in rental properties in the southeastern Wisconsin area. I am looking closer to the Milwaukee market, though, Waukesha, New Berlin, Brookfield, etc. I am actually also looking into doing a multi-family home.

Also, I am actually looking into using the VA home loan to purchase my first multi-family property. I believe you will need to do a house hack if you want to try to utilize the VA home loan, as it is required that you reside at the residence for a certain amount of time.

I am not positive you can use the VA home loan for a multi-family unit, this is something I still need to look into. I wouldn't see why not, but I know there are a lot of limitations and stipulations on the VA loan.
