Hi BP Community! Thank you for your existence! I feel like I've found out where all the cool kids hang out! ;) You all are so inspiring!

I grew up with a single-parent (mother) flipping houses and moving each year after the improvements. Naturally, I attempted to follow her footsteps in the bigger city of Minneapolis! I ended up in my current landlord-ship role due to the 2008 housing bubble burst, where I became “stuck” with a property. Five years later, I can say this “back-up plan” was a blessing. It’s cash flowing nicely and no amount of money can substitute the knowledge (and confidence) I have gained here! I'm ready to take it to the next level by adding a couple more rental properties to my portfolio in the next year.

I'm very interested in connecting with locals around Mankato, MN (within 80 miles south of Twin Cities, MN) and there isn’t a group around here yet! I haven't been back in my hometown area for over 10+ years but I’m ready to start making my footprint here through rental properties (i.e., every college town needs rental properties).

I’m also amidst locating my next day-job here in this area. Banks haven’t been fully persuadable to my new plans during this transition time and no W2 income secured yet. I'm NOW learning all the other financing options available through this platform!

I welcome input from you smart inspiring folks! Thanks again. I’m grateful to be a part of this group.

Thanks,

Kelly

Welcome Kelly! I live in Mankato now but am planning on moving to the cities soon. I agree with Eric that prices are at a slight premium to surrounding cities but I still think it would be an exciting place to invest. Prices are much lower than the Twin Cities market and the rental market is strong. The city is growing and demand looks like it will stay strong.

Good luck in your search and enjoy the forums!
