I just started listening to the BiggerPockets podcasts after beginning to research buying rental properties.  My wife and I are in the energy industry and love our jobs but recent market conditions have us wanting to hedge our income resources.

To be honest, I don't have any aggressive or lofty goals at this time.  I want to learn learn about the different opportunities there are in real estate investing and identify strategies that work best for me.  I started at the bottom in my current career/ industry and am proud of the success I've had. Most of which I contribute to having got my hands dirty and working my way up.  The plan is to do the same in this endeavor.

Love the podcast/ site and only hope that I can constructively contribute in the future,

Patrick
