Hi, I'm new to the real estate investing. I have always enjoyed looking at homes. It all started with a post card from Christina & Tarek from Flip or Flop inviting me and another person to a Success Path seminar. My husband & I went to find out more. We signed up for the 3 day class and dropped $2,000 & also sign up for the tax lien investors club for another $500. Being born & raised as a Long Islander(NY) I have always been skeptical (to say the least) of things that look too good to be true. We moved to Texas 13 years ago after my husbands company built a site here. Anyway, my husband got laid off a few months back & he has always wanted to have his own business. So this might be the perfect time. We learned a lot at the 3 day seminar. You feel quite motivated to buy a mentoring package for $41,000, but we decided to tell them that we needed to check with our accountant(tax cpa) to see how we can take out of our 401k put into an IRA. Ron our tax guy told us don't do it. So we are trying this with the knowledge we just learned. My husband wants to start with wholesale, maybe buy a rental. Later on maybe try a flip.

Lots of info here. BUT there are tons of people in the D/FW area that you can meet up with in person. Lots of groups that meet regularly. Go network, see what others are doing and use what they have done and mold it to what you want and can do.

I am sure that you have learned something from the Tax Lien investor group. Take that knowledge and apply it to Denton or Tarrant County. How about mailing letters to people who are behind 3 years on their taxes in the county?? I bet you will find some super deals doing that. Then you can wholesale, rehab or keep as rentals.
