New member interested in rentals

Good morning, 

My husband and I purchased our first home about a year ago.  Eventually I would like to own several rentals but I am not exactly sure how/where to start.  I am very handy (paint, tile, trim etc) and my husband is a foundation specialist so he can tell if the home is stable/can do almost any repair himself.
