Hi I'm Peter, 30 from the Santa Cruz area in California. I found the site about a month ago, and have been listening to the podcast ever since. (thank you guys for that, by the way!)

So far I have been doing my best to absorb all the different strategies people trying and using with real estate. My first interest in real estate was initiated by my parents, who have owned some medium sized apartment buildings in Orange County. I feel very lucky to have them available as a resource for asking questions and getting advice!

My second experience comes from the small single family that they helped me purchase in 2010 in the rural area between Santa Cruz and the San Francisco Bay Area. We have been living in it as we upgrade it, build equity, and save up cash for our next investment. It is a funky old cabin built in 1922 with many interesting peculiarities.

Lately I've been reading a lot on the forum, as well as reading (and listening to) real estate and business books. The first real estate book I ever read was Nickerson's How I turned 1000 into a Million (it was an old version from my dad). Most recently I've read The E Myth Revisited, Rich Dad Poor Dad, Outliers, David and Goliath, and the 4 Hour Work Week. Id love to hear about more books! In particular, I am also looking for audiobooks that are narrated by the author of the book.

I just enrolled in the basic online courses required to get my California RE Saleperson's License. I don't intend to work as an agent for a local brokerage at this point in time; I'd like the tools and networking opportunities more easily available to agents. The classes are cheap online from my a community college in my area. Unless the classes are terrible, I will take all the real estate classes they offer.

Please let me know what I forgot to include; thank you all again for this awesome resource!
