New Guy From Michigan

Hi everyone!

My name is Mike and I am from Ruth, Michigan. It's located in Huron County near Lake Huron. I'm 33 years old. I am quite new to the REI world.

How did I end up here at Bigger Pockets? Well I'm a homeowner and have found a new home for my wife and I to live in. A definite upgrade over our current house. We've just begun on the paperwork for the new house and am now faced with a decision on our current one. Rent out or sell? The curiosity of being a first time landlord started with Google which then led me to the Bigger Pockets website. Life changing moment!

I'm pretty detailed oriented and wanted to learn the pros, cons, legal stuff, cost and rewards etc. as a landlord. So far BP hasn't let me down and it's looking like I'll be renting out our first house.

Now I'm looking at potential properties to buy, fix up and then either rent out or flip. I do know quite a few contractors that cover all aspects of maintaining and fixing up properties to even building houses. I'm thinking pretty big and would love to eventually own enough properties to rent out so that I can "retire" from my current job of 16 years.

My next plan is to get a real estate license. I'm also hoping I can find someone else in the Michigan area to learn from and help out in any way possible as well as potentially find a partner to work together on this new venture. And of course, continue to browse and interact with the vast knowledge and topics in the BP community!
