New to Real Investing

Hi, my name is Champaigne, I'm 29, been living in Houston for the last 4 years and am very new to real estate investing. New as in I've just started doing the research and don't know exactly where or how to begin. I was doing Accounting but I am momentarily unemployed and wanted to use this opportunity to focus on real estate. If anyone has any suggestions or tips I am all ears.
