Getting Started In Portland, OR

Hey Everyone,

I'm a 28 year old life long restaurant industry worker. I've done everything you can in the front of house from bussing to managing in restaurants ranging from casual to luxury fine dining. My girlfriend and I have pretty much always rented and are looking for better paying careers and to hopefully do some real estate investing on the side. We live in Portland right now and the housing market just seems to be exploding right now. Complexes going up everywhere, houses being sold for huge returns (from what we've seen online i.e. zillow) etc. I'm hoping to learn as much as I can here, and hopefully in the next 5 years or so we will have our first rental property!
