New Chemical Engineer in Baton Rouge

Hey everyone!

My name is Warren Hem. I grew up on the Mississippi gulf coast (Long Beach, MS), and recently graduated from Mississippi State in May 2015. I'm now working as a chemical engineer in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

While I enjoy my job, the idea of being my own boss has always appealed to me. I discovered Mister Money Mustache and realized what is possible with money. After looking at a bunch of investment options, I noticed real estate had huge potential.

I have no real estate experience, but I've been doing a lot of reading.  Buy and hold is very attractive to me.  My long term real estate goals (~10 years) are to own enough properties to allow me to work from home by the time I have kids with my (hopefully!) soon to be fiance.

To reach this goal, I would need to cash flow $3500-$4000/month. My initial research has indicated that I will likely need 25-30 properties. More short term is I would like to buy 1-5 rental properties within the next year.

I look forward to being a part of the BiggerPockets community!
