Hello and welcome to BP! I live in NWDallas County but I have a couple of friends that live down in Houston, neither are in real estate . Educate yourself as much as you can before starting. Just pick something you like. Know your selected market well and know it's best locations. Find/Get a local and experienced Team of professionals that are willing to help you when you call.
Always do the numbers and look at the property first before you mke an offer or at least have a clause in the sales contract that will allow you some time to inspect and possibly back out without a big penalty. After you close, right after, get an insurance policy that will protect you if there is a loss. As soon as you can after closing, change the exterior door locks. If the locks are still good just use them at another address.
I am 59 years old and I found BP about 8 months ago and I don't know what I am going to do. I went to college, not that it is mandatory, and got a degree in business that had real estate as an emphasis. Regardless of what I had I felt more comfortable in the construction business. I have been in the construction business since I was 17 including in those college years. My father has been in real estate sales for about 40 years and he has taught me a little bit. If you think that I can help you please contact me through BP at any time. Good luck!
thanks @Michael Lee for the advises you are giving me its really hard to find people that actually help
welcome, well now you have a whole community of professionals in many aspects of the RE business. I'm sure no question of yours will go unanswered. Welcome again and the best of wishes to you in your venture.
I mentioned my friends down in Houston because that was something to tell you and get a chance on commenting. I did expect to hear back from you and I want to help you. Just write me at any time and I will try to help you as much as I can. Knowledge is the key in minimizing mistakes.
