New to Real Estate Investing from Portland, OR 97216

My Name is Benjamin Herrmann. I currently house hack in Portland, OR 97216. Me and my Wife Angeline own a 5 bedroom house and rent out 4 of the rooms to our friends. I am Active Duty National Guard until June 27th 2016, will have 8 months of income to live on after that. Me and my Wife are in the process of getting our Real Estate License and will be under Keller Williams.

Our plan is to start out selling and flipping homes to help build capital to invest in rental properties. We are both motivated and ambitious to take action but lack the experience to go out and make deals. We would like to specialize in vacant and foreclosed properties since the sellers are few in Portland. We have looked at several homes and each one seems like a dead end. I have been listening to Bigger Pockets for about 6 months. I have called a few investors in attempts to gain some hands on experience, non of them wanted to work with us. I desperately want to learn this industry and would love to get hands on experience, I don't need compensation, I just want to learn!
