Newbie in PA w/ a accounting software question

Hello all, long time reader, first time poster. just getting ready to sign on our first rental investment (YAY)... question for anyone who might have some info. We are also getting ready to start a small business as well (another YAY) and are trying to determine what software would be good to use? We are looking at QuickBooks for simplicity sake, but can we use it for both avenues? business and rentals? our accountant, in a very brief conversation, said to keep everything separate... can we do that with QuickBooks.... is that a good software to use? is there something better?

Thoughts? Advice?

Thanks,

Karen S in PA
