Newbie from Sacramento, California

Hello! 

My husband and I are brand new to real estate investing so we have been trying to devour all the knowledge and education we can.  I have had an interest in real estate for sometime and we even attended one of those "Guru" seminars a couple of years ago to attempt to learn the business only to find out the cost to get mentored was financially out of our reach unless we went deep into debt for it! I just felt there had to be a better way.  

Fast forward to a few weeks ago when I came across another "system" that I thought I would research first before spending money on and stumbled across BiggerPockets in my search results as there was some conversations in one of the forums that had taken place on this particular system we were considering.  

Since that day, I have been on here pretty much daily, listening to as many podcasts as I can, reading various forums and checking out all this community has to offer.  I can't express how elated I am to have found this site and everyone on it! 

We don't have a lot of real estate background except the experience of buying our own home 8 years ago (which we learned a lot from!) but my husband has 25+ years of construction experience including a specialty in custom cabinets and I have 12+ years of business experience/degree and currently hold a position as a Business Intelligence Analyst in the IT division (I'm a  TOTAL Geek!!) of a major healthcare provider here in the Sacramento area.  We both feel that the two of us together will bring the skill sets (hard skills & soft skills) to our investing business to be a dynamic duo!  We both have a passion for helping people as well as solving problems and I believe this will be an asset to our journey to achieving wealth. 

We are interested in starting out with wholesaling and then move into flipping and rentals after we get our feet wet.  We look forward to participating, contributing and collaborating with many others with the same interests.

Welcome to BP!  Be cautious of those investor seminars as most of the time they are just trying to sell you their system/program. Most of the time there can be some good information in there though. Since you want to start out wholesaling, have you thought about how you want to find deals?
