Newbie from Ohio -- Hi there!

Hi, BP!

Great website you've got here. I'm a newbie from Ohio trying to supplement my current income as a software engineer by investing in real estate. I'm mostly interested in rental properties at the moment.

My current plan is to buy a duplex with an FHA loan, live in half while supplementing the loan repayment using rent from the other half, then branch out from there. I'd be very interested to hear some feedback on this plan or recommendations for reading material. Otherwise, I'll see you around the forums, I suppose.

Take care!

@Pete Grapentien

Welcome to BP! I just recently relocated to Cincinnati myself, but from what I can see we are pretty fortunate as OH is a great area to invest in. There's many ways to make money in real estate, but the most important piece is taking action. Since it sounds like you've already got your plan laid out, I encourage you to move forward on your plan and get your feet wet!

If you haven't already, i'd recommend reading the following books to start:

1. Ultimate Beginners Guide to Real Estate Investing (free e-book right here on BP!)

2. Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki

3. ABCs of Real Estate Investing by Ken McElroy

Best of luck!
